The Legacy ~
ROBERT EUGENE WHALEY
Quiet, Soft Spoken, Calm, Pleasant, Hard Working, Devoted, Honorable, Steadfast, Servant, Son, Brother, Uncle, ETERNAL LOVE, DADDY and Friend. All who had the pleasure of knowing Robert could attest to these words describing him. Among the many things that brought Robert Whaley great joy was foremost his family, gardening, working in the yard, searching Craigs List for treasures to restore and playing basketball. Robert enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends. His dedication and quality work ethic resulted in great success and numerous friends during his 27 years at MDOT. He devoted his time to serving: snow removal for his elderly neighbors, traveling to make home repairs or maintenance and tape ministry at Lansing Christian Center Church.
HIS BEGINNINGS ~
Robert was the second child born of Robert Luther and Carolyn Faye Whaley of DeWitt, Arkansas on January 3, 1963. He attended St. Charles schools until his family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1972. His education continued in the Detroit Public School System, where he graduated from Southeastern High School with honors in 1981. Rob maintained lasting friendships with his classmates. He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. That is where he met the love of his life, Lisa Brown in Chemistry Class.
ETERNAL LOVE ~
They married on September 17, 1988 and bore two beautiful daughters, Brittasia Marquis and Jorrian Kiana, whom they absolutely adored. As the girls grew up, Rob and Lisa were deeply involved in all of their activities. Rob could always be found on the top bleacher coaching and cheering for Britt at her basketball games and track meets. He would proudly listen to Jorrians piano recitals, and sit on the sidelines during her color guard performances. After both daughters graduated from college, they began to travel together, ventured on many excursions. Rob and Lisa are truly in love; dating every day by being together. Lovingly he calls her Vanilla and she calls him Chocolate.
Continuing to cherish him are: his loving wife, Lisa; daughters, Brittasia and Jorrian; mother, Carolyn; siblings, Fred (Jacqueline), Wayne (Joyce), Linda, Yulonda and Urhonda; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
