Robert Lee Culpepper

October 30, 1930 — February 7, 2015

Mr. Robert Lee Culpepper went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the age of 84 years. He was born October 30, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to Walter and Ruby Culpepper.
On February 9, 1952 Robert was united in holy matrimony to Alberta Wells at St. Joseph Church. She survives him. He was employed at General Motors Corporation as a millwright for over 45 years. During his employment he was recognized and awarded for being an outstanding employee with a perfect attendance record. Robert was a Big Brother, chaplain for the International Fellowship of Chaplains, member of the Knights of Peter Claver, member of the Isadoras and Eucharist Ministry. He loved being a wonderful husband and father to his family. Robert enjoyed being Uncle Bob to many young men. He also enjoyed bowling, putting puzzles together and woodworking. An avid sports fan, his favorite team was the Detroit Tigers. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his devoted wife of 63 years, Alberta Culpepper; his children, Robert Lee Jr. (Dianne) Culpepper, Sabrina Hughes, Kevin Karl (Mimi) Culpepper and Eric Lamont (Jeanene) Culpepper; seventeen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; one sister, Brenda Galvin of Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Lanary Ralph (Shirley) Culpepper of Saginaw, Michigan and Russell (Edna) Culpepper of Arlington, Texas; sisters-in-law, Clara Wells of Saginaw, Michigan, Jean Culpepper of San Antonio, Texas and Edna Culpepper of Lexington, Maryland; special nieces and nephews, Roland (Sharon) Berkley, Debra and Joshua Shelton all of Saginaw, Michigan, Althea (Mark) Dennard, Ronnie (Bobbie) Culpepper all of Detroit, Michigan, Leslie Davis and Lanary Culpepper both of Newport News, Virginia; family lifelong friend, Lucille Surles of Saginaw, Michigan; god-daughter, Joyce Winters; many other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Culpepper; brothers, Millard, Eldridge, Richard, Ray Charles and Raymond Ross; sisters, Lamuriel Johnson, Bernice and Barbara; sisters-in-law, Leora Red Top and Sarah Berkley and brother-in-law, James Wells.
The family wishes to express special thanks to everyone who offered kinds words, condolences and prayers.
