Mr. Robert Rogers, Jr. passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 30 years. Robert was born June 16, 1992, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Robert Lee Rogers Sr. and Evelyn Roshelle Henderson.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Saginaw and was educated in the Saginaw Public Schools system. He played football from elementary through his senior year and was on the Wrestling Team. Upon completion of the requirements, Robert graduated from Arthur Hill High School and attended Delta College for a brief time. As a youth, Robert sang with the Youth Choir at church and participated with the Boy Scouts of America. His work history included Big John Steak and Onion in Saginaw; recently, he gained full-time employment at General Motors in Flint, Michigan.
Robert was taught to cook by his mom. He enjoyed getting in the kitchen and creating a masterpiece. Robert thought he was the “coldest” on the grill. He enjoyed playing video games and spending as much time as he could with his daughter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his only child, Robyn Lee’Asia Rogers; his mother, Evelyn Henderson; special father figure, Willie E. Reeves Jr.; great-grandmother, Corrine Rogers; four sisters, Cierra Henderson, Patricia Harper, Tateuana, and Quaniesha Goodman; two brothers, Jermani Perry, and Jaylon Huffman; seven nieces and one special niece, Janiyah Ruffin; three nephews and special nephew, Jaylen Henderson; aunts, Alice Windmon, and Raquel Simmons; great-aunts, Veronica Simmons Bond, and Marilyn Atkins; five uncles, Larry, Tommy, Ernest, and Anthony Rogers; one great- uncle, Terry Rogers; a host of cousins including special cousins, Victoria and Nicole Simmons, Shawnie Williams, JoJo Pippins, DeJuan Nutt, and Bobriana Wilson; a soon to be brother-in-law, Edward Hollis; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Sylander and Candice Hopkins and family; (like family), Daveon, Dominique, Marquise Goodwine, the Pringle family, and his football family.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Rogers, Sr.; grandmothers, Patricia Ann Atkins, and Willie Mae Rogers; two nephews, Chance and Chosen, and two cousins.
The family would like to express special thanks to Mr. Don (the fisherman who discovered Robert’s body); the City of Saginaw for all their help with the search; everyone who donated money; and everyone who prayed for and with us.
