Our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Mr. Robert "Bob" Cornelius Simpson, peacefully departed this life on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 76 years of age. Robert was born to Robert “Pat” Patterson and Atlantis A. Simpson on November 14, 1945, in Bay City, Michigan.
Robert was a resident of Saginaw, formerly of Bay City, Michigan. He attended Bay City Public schools and was a graduate of Bay City Central High School, Class of 1963. In 1966, Robert was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he completed 3 years of honorable service which included a Vietnam Service and Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge and also was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Returning to Bay City, Robert enjoyed standing tall, dapper and impeccably polished. Meeting his wife Kaye, Robert relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he would reside for over 30 years enjoying family, working for the government in the Motor Carrier Safety Department with lots of enjoyable vacations in between. In 2011 Robert returned to Michigan where he enjoyed being around family, reconnecting with old friends and becoming inseparable with his youngest daughter whom he called “Baby Gurl.” Robert was a stickler for pushing education to all of his peers and any youth that graced his presence. Robert will truly be missed by all who loved him forever and always.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Kimberly (James) Clark, South Bend, Indiana, Tameca (Tracy) Brown-Lawrence, Saginaw, Michigan; six grandchildren, April Herd, Dreray Harris, Jackie Knuckles Jr., Jerney Gillespie all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Daunte and Terrell Davis, Grand Rapids, Michigan; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Linda “Dip” Simpson; brother, Christopher Simpson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-law, Levi Jiles Sr, Bay City, Michigan; and best friend, Howard Walther, Palm Desert, California.
