Roberta Harrison

May 14, 1960 — June 8, 2018

Hello there,

On June 8, 2018, I danced my way into heaven as my family surrounded me with love.

On May 14, 1960, I was born to my father, Joe Gordon and my mother, Dorothy Moore. They named me Roberta but I loved to be called “Berta.” In my growing years, I attended Longstreet Elementary and Central Junior High School. In 1978, I graduated from St. Peter & Paul High School. I really loved school so I became a teacher’s aide for Mt. Carmel Elementary School. I went on to be a cheerleading and basketball coach too.

I participated in the Miss Mershon Beauty Pageants. In 1995, the Saginaw News honored me for giving back to the community because I provided kids with food, toys and clothing. I became a nurse doing private duty as well as worked for the General Motors Corporation. In my spare time, I loved listening to music, dancing, shopping, painting my nails and finding garage sales. I also enjoyed cooking, especially tacos and fried chicken. Most of all, I loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.

I leave to cherish my memory my loving husband, Rev. Jimmy Harrison; my beautiful babies, Aeriell (Eric) Scott, Bryan (Samantha) Scott, Deborah (David) General; my heartbeats, my grandbabies, De’Ayree, Eu’Laycia, Deb’Brieona, Dai’Lyn, Ja’Mari, David, Daysia, Derrick, Zay'Nail, Dai’Vin, E’Mir, Skyla, Rian; a nephew I raised, Samuel (Angie) Williams; stepchildren, Anthony (Tanya), Jimmy Jr., Crystal Harrison; sisters, JoAnn (Ronnie) Ezell, Betty Haywood, ReNail Gordon, Diane Tyler, Sandra (Tony) Holiday, Tara Turner; brothers, James Gordon, Larry (Ada) Gordon, David Gordon, Lee (Dede) Wallace, Carl Gordon; aunt, Ruth Wilson; father-In-law, Levi Harrison, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Mary Carter, Deborah Blanks, Audrey Harrison, Vivian Samuel; brothers-in-law, Leroy (Mary), Levi (Geneva), Edward (Carmen) Harrison; godsisters, Diane Cox, Annie Bandy; friends, Beatrice Manning, Kay Coates, Elaine Jones, Demetrise Hill, Parlee Ealy, Bryan Scott, and Corinthian Baptist Church Family. I also had many godchildren, nieces, nephews that were too many to name but I love you all.

I have joined the heavenly gardens with my mother, Dorothy Moore; father, Joe Gordon; grandparents, Joe and Lula Mae Gordon; daughters, Princess Elann Scott and Kimberly Harrison; grandson, Johnson Laster, Jr.; brothers, Joe Milton, Charles, Kim Gordon; mother-in-law, Curley Mae Harrison; sister in law, Regina McClain.
