Rodney Keith Bailey, our beloved son, brother, cousin and friend went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Covenant HealthcareCooper. Age 53 years. He was born December 14, 1960 to the late Johnnie Bailey Jr and Melviner Silvia Bailey.
Rodney confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church under leadership of the late Dr. J.P. Wilson. Later, Rodney attended First Church of the Nazarene until his passing.
Rodney graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1979. He attended DeVry College in Ohio and received a Certificate in Food Preparation. Rodney worked at the Saginaw Country Club for many years, and also at Saginaw Power Plant a short time until he became disabled. Rodneys love for life took him to many places. He loved to cook, work on puzzles, watch football and basketball, listen to music and watch movies.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Melviner Bailey of Alexandria, Louisiana; one brother, Gregory Kirk Bailey of Nashville, Tennessee; one uncle, Albert (Lorine) Battle of Alexandria, Louisiana; two aunts, Nora V. Silvia of Saginaw, Michigan and Doris Silvia of Natchitoches, Louisiana; a host of cousins and friends including special cousins and caretaker, Ora (Billy) Nelson, Ann and Larry Jones; special friends, Rachel Hubbert and Doris Morris; his friend and buddy, Chuck Donnelly; and all of his friends at Davenport Manor Apartments.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Bailey Jr; grandparents, Rev. Tom and Carrie Silvia, Johnnie Bailey Sr and Magnolia Holmes-Bailey; uncles, Al J, Jessie and Phillip Silvia; aunts, Mary Banks, Mildred Pratt and Sarah Hawkins-Bailey.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Covenant Healthcare 4th Floor ICU, Rev. John Obrecht and members of First Church of the Nazarene.
