Mr. Ronald Owens was born April 30, 1953, in Henry, Tennessee, to William and Mary Odessa Wilkins Owens. Ronald gained his wings on September 20, 2022, in Saline, Michigan.


Ronald came to Michigan when he was 6 years old. He attended Saginaw Public Schools. Ronald’s previous employer was Saginaw Steering Gear; he also worked as a carpenter and roofer. Ronald was a hard worker and a family man who loved his family. His grandchildren called him “Papa Smurf,” and his nickname was “Country.” Ronald enjoyed attending various churches, playing cards, roofing, barbequing, fishing, and eating all kinds of tasty food.


He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Geraldine Owens; two sons, Maurice Andre Tyrone Owens, Saginaw, Michigan, and Ronald Deshaye (Nakedra) Owens, Gainesville, Virginia; two stepchildren, Angel Layton, and Marcus Layton; four grandchildren, Maurice Owens Jr., and Kace Amir Owens, Saginaw, Michigan, Jahmarion Deshawn Owens, and Azariah Viliyah Owens, Gainesville, Virginia; two brothers, Robert W. Owens, Saginaw, Michigan, and William Ray (Jennifer) Owens, Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Virgie Sue (Gean) Billings, Saginaw, Michigan, and Carolyn Owens, Maryland; one uncle, Robert Dunlap, Columbus, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends; special friends, James McKinney, Billy Jones, and Frank Jones.


Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Odessa Owens; brothers, George Owens, Robert Milton, and Emerson Lee Owens; sister, Melissa Owens; two nieces; three nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.


The family would like to express special thanks to Arbor Hospice, Saline, Michigan, Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, and all who cared for Ronald during his illness.
