Roosevelt Jr. (Lansing) Artis

Roosevelt Artis Jr. passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016. Age 67 years. He was born August 11, 1948 in Cuba, Alabama, the son of Roosevelt and Martha (Roshelle ) Artis.
Roosevelt resided in Lansing, Michigan for 40 plus years. He was known to family and friends as Roosie. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the Special Forces Division, and was honorably discharged in 1971. Roosevelt was a retiree of General Motors, after 40 years of service, and a member of UAW Local 602. He was also a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. His hobbies included being a certified mechanic, hunting, fishing and odd end jobs such as snow plowing and trash removal. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Cynthia Artis; three grandchildren, Shaquida Artis, Jimmie Martin, Jr., Tyshyn Mildton, Jr.; great-grandchild, Karmelo Artis; four sisters, Lucille, Martha Ann, Virginia and Mary Artis; four brothers, John, Elisha, Alisha and Marshall Artis; one niece, Monica Artis, six nephews, Marshall, Christopher, Orlando, Mark, Anthony and Raymond Artis, as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Martha Artis; wife, Susan Artis; and brother-in-law, Robert Pallmateer.
