Mr. Roosevelt Tolbert entered into eternal life on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital. Age 67 years. He was born December 17, 1947 in Bullock County, Alabama to Roosevelt and Sarah Tolbert.
Roosevelt was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. He served his country with the United States Marine Corp from 1968 to 1974 receiving an honorable discharge. Roosevelt was a decorated veteran who received over 17 medals including the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. He enjoyed fishing and coaching girls and boys basketball teams. Roosevelt lived a long caring life. He met no strangers and was loved by many.
He leaves to cherish fond memories two sons, Roosevelt Tolbert III and Chaun Samuel Tolbert both of Saginaw, Michigan; four daughters, Melissa (Travis) Donald of Columbia, Tennessee, Andrea R. Micsak-Tolbert and Tina M. Micsak-Tolbert both of Bay City, Michigan, Emily E. Tolbert of Saginaw, Michigan; stepchildren, ChaQuille Jalen, Chaunci and Chamarya all of Saginaw, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Isaac, Isaiah, Honesty, Jeffery Jr., Jonathen, John Paul, Zouria, Mark Jr., Zion and Maki; one sister, Beatrice Sweetie (Richard) Townsend of Saginaw, Michigan; one aunt, Mary E. Donald of Birmingham, Alabama; one niece, Porshia T. Tolbert of East Point, Georgia; three nephews, Tony Tolbert, Jacques Tolbert and Richard Townsend Jr. all of Saginaw, Michigan; two special cousins, Shirley Reed of Birmingham, Alabama and James Colvin of Columbia, Maryland; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Joyce A. Micsak-Tolbert, Herbert Williams, Herb Beverly, Jack Young, James Henry, Vicey Tolbert and Kenny Champion.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by one son, ChaKur Tolbert, his parents, Roosevelt and Sarah Tolbert, grandparents, Rufus and Zela Mae Grover, Jimmie and Beatrice Monroe Tolbert, two uncles, Willie James Grover and Thad Donald.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Ms. Sherry of Dobson Healthcare, the Townsend family and everyone who offered kind words, prayers and condolences.
