Roosevelt Wesley Hood, Sr.

October 13, 1933 — November 12, 2018

Roosevelt Wesley Hood, Sr., a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Born October 13, 1933 to Fitzsimmons, Sr. and Blanche (Ford) Hood in Hickory Plains, Arkansas, he was the fourth born of twelve children and affectionately known as “Rose” and “Partner.”

Roosevelt lived a life of significant impact through his love, faith and service to family and friends. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory Plains, Arkansas. He graduated from Douglass High School, Des Arc, Arkansas, where he was a star basketball player. After graduation he relocated to Saginaw, Michigan. He was an employee of the General Motors Corporation and retired after thirty plus years of service. He enjoyed working with his hands and could build or repair just about anything. After retiring, he moved back to Arkansas and worked with his brother John remodeling and renovating houses.

Mr. Hood leaves to cherish his loving memories with his wife, Clemetta Hood; four daughters and two sons, Janice Hood, Snellville, Georgia, Marion (Christopher) Houston, Laurenceville, Georgia, Kawanna Hood, Roosevelt Wesley Hood, Jr., Norcross, Georgia, Carmonlita (Stanley) Paul, Khary Dickerson, Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Marcie Collier, Saginaw, Michigan, Tyler Houston, Kennedy Houston, Norcross, Georgia, Tony Earl Boles, Jr., David Paul, Joseph Paul, Gabriel Paul, Little Rock, Arkansas; three great-children; Diamond Irvin, Marcellus Collins, Saginaw, Michigan, Kailey Boles, Little Rock, Arkansas; nine siblings, Savannah (John) Williams, Melvin (Lois) Hood, North Little Rock, Arkansas, George (Janice) Scott, Arkansas, Cathy (Frank) Beard, Arkansas, LaVern McGovan, Flint, Michigan, Woodrow (Doris) Hood, Joyce Neal, Laurence Hood, Saginaw, Michigan, Fitzsimmons Hood, Jr., Novi, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Carla Boles, North Little Rock, Arkansas; one uncle, Lenard Ford, Macon, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his father Fitzsimmons Hood, Sr.; mother, Blanche Ford Hood; sister, Gracye Bogard; brother, John Hood; sister-in-law, Maxine Hood; brother-in-law, Raymond Bogard; nieces, Diana Jones, Sylvia Daniels, Eleanor Wheeler and Rosalind Williams.
