Rosalee Bates

April 9, 1949 — October 27, 2015

On Saturday, April 9, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan a baby girl was born to the late Aaron B. Sr. and Rosa Lee Arthur. While strolling through His flower garden on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, the Lord saw a beautiful blooming flower named Mrs. Rosalee Bates. He said to the Father, she is ready; let us bring this flower home to take her rest.
Rosalee was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan who attended Saginaw Public Schools. She moved to Detroit, Michigan for a short period of time and found there was no place like Saginaw to live, thus return to her birth place. During Rosa Lees lifetime she rendered her service through employment at Holy Rosary as a bus driver aid where she enjoyed working with children. Rosalee enjoyed baking and cooking a variety of dishes for her family. She also restored furniture. Rosalee accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Ninth Street Mennonite Church for a short time. Rosa Lee united with Word of Faith International Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Byron C. Hayes where she remained a member until her illness. During her time at church she helped in the kitchen ministry and wherever she was needed. Rosalee did not shy away from working where needed in the church and her community.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories one son, Robert Lamar (Pamela) Bates of Saginaw, Michigan; two daughters, Sonja M. (Neal) Valentine of Detroit, Michigan and Tasha L. Hunter of Saginaw, Michigan; six grandchildren, Keosha Sparks and Keeria Myles of Detroit, Michigan, Antoine Coleman of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dexter Myles of Atlanta, Georgia, Kwaudraya and Jamera Bates of Saginaw, Michigan; four great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Antoine Coleman of Atlanta, Georgia, Elijah Myles of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Sonja Myles of Detroit, Michigan; five siblings, Geraldine Mason of Detroit, Michigan, Samuel (Elma) Arthur, Betty (Evander) Scott and Kelvin Arthur all of Saginaw, Michigan and Gail Arthur-Hysten of Oklahoma; her devoted companion, Mr. J.S. Hunter; a loving aunt, Ruby Williams; godmother, Morine Broxton-Langston; god-daughter, Wytina Walker; god-son, Scott Bliss; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Rosalee was preceded in death by a son, Antoine Arthur, parents, Aaron B. and Rosa Lee Arthur Sr., two brothers, Aaron B. and Larry Arthur, three sisters, Esther Sanders, Susie Turnbull and Betty Riley.
