Roselee Gonzales (Lansing)

Ms. Rosalee M. Gonzales passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 76 years. She was the daughter of the late Frances Sanchez and Joe Gonzales, born on the 27th day of June 1944 in Ault, Colorado.

Rosalee liked to take long walks, cook for family and friends, sew, knit, crochet, and complete DIY projects. She liked to play board games and you might even catch her playing a game of twister. Rosalee was above all else, a homemaker. “Home is a space where you are family. A space where it’s safe to figure life out, make mistakes, and experience forgiveness. A space that says no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done or how you ended up here, you still belong. And when life is hard, you get to come home where people care about you and hold you up. Because you matter.” Homemaking is the art of giving, in Rosalee’s case, homemaking looked like burritos but felt like love.

She leaves to cherish her memories her partner, Anthony Jones of Lansing, Michigan; children, Franklin O. Symonds (Natalye L.Booker) of Madison, Wisconsin, Mary J. (Jimmie L. Heggins), Taylor-Heggins and Johnnie J. Taylor III of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Andrea N. and Sabrina F. Symonds, Chavon T.N. (Jonathon) Mcafee, Rashawn Mitchell, Imani R. Taylor, Nazeleh, Cameryn J., Jayden S.F., and Ruenette R. Booker; great-grandchildren, Ai’yana S. Melendez, Ashaunna N.M. Bradley, Amarise A. Terrell, and Alaysia T. Freeman; sisters, Delores Gonzalez and Sally Hernandez; brothers-in-law, Nelse, Robert E. (Flora), and Robert L. Taylor; sisters-in-law Charlene Roper and Carol F. Taylor; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Frances Sanchez and Joe Gonzales; grandparents, Joe P. Sanchez and Celia Sanchez; brother, William McKinley; mother- and father-in-law, Johnnie and Earline Taylor; Johney J. (Deloris) Taylor II; brothers-in-law, Halbert, Joe Ray, and Timothy Taylor; sisters-in-law, Joyce Jones, Dosha McCuin, Sandra Gentry, and Ruby Pugh.
