Rosie Campbell (Lansing)

November 18, 1939 — October 20, 2023

The life of Rosie Lee Campbell, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend transitioned from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on October 20, 2023, at the age of 83.


Rosie Lee was born on November 18, 1939, in Tribbett, Mississippi, to Pinkie and Ed Bruno Vaughn. She was raised by her stepfather, Isaiah Humphrey in Elaine, Arkansas, where she attended Elaine High School. She was a member of Christian Stone Baptist Church. Ater high school, she moved to West Helena, Arkansas, and married Lawrence Campbell. Following the death of her husband, Lawrence, she relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where she attended Galilee Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late, Reverend Columbus Clayton.


Rosie Lee was a beautiful singer, certified beautician, and a strong black woman.


She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Jimmy Williams, Denver, Colorado and Billy (Ira) Hall, Newport, Arkansas; daughters, Lucendia (Owen) Monday, Lansing, Michigan, and Rose Mary (Napoleon) Gill, Lansing, Michigan; brother, Sylvester (Gloria) Smith, Flint, Michigan; sister, Lucille Smith, Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Dorothy, Odessa, James Jr., Donell, Marcus, Billy Jr., Kryston, Conell Jr., Shaniqua, Nashonna, Whittney, Aaron, Jasmine, Matthew, Kenya, Miracle, Kimberly, McKinley Jr., Isiah, Isaac, Dorothy, and Virginia M; great-grandchildren, Sean, Bryson, Jakiel, Cortez, Caleb, Kyree, Mieh’lynn, Kori, Kryon, Serenity, Trinity, Lamar, Noe, Kingston, and many others including nieces, nephews, cousins, and granddogs, Bruce and Java.


Rosie Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Campbell; parents, Pinkie and Ed Bruno Vaughn; stepfather, Isaiah Humphrey; sisters, Melissa Houston and Hattie Mae Humphrey; brothers, Arthur Bell, and Isaiah Humphrey Jr.; sons, Conell Haynes and McKinley Campbell; stepsons, James Campbell and Lawrence Campbell Jr.; granddaughter, Curly Mae Marshall; and great-granddaughter, Milani.
