Rosie J. Linzy

Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Rosie J. Linzy, was born July 27, 1949 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to John D. Elem and Lula B. Johnson. She transitioned from this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the age of 71 years.

Rosie attended Amanda Elzy High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. She was a former employee of Smith and Douglas and retired from Choice Hotels.

Rosie’s greatest passion was her children, grandchildren, and family. She will be remembered as a woman of faith, family, love and hard work ethic. She will truly be missed and cherished by those who knew her best.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father, John D. Elem; siblings, Robert W., Jimmy R., Charles and Viella Johnson.

Rosie’s legacy lives on through her children, Samuel (Tricia) Riley, Lamarr (Jimanesha) Moore, Ronneshia (Jessie) Freeman; grandchildren, Marquis, Breon, Cynthia, Antonio, Samuel Jr., DeAndrew, Diamond, Destiny, Kiera, Lamarr Jr., Jarrard, Bre’Nae, Debreona, Lamarion, Jessie Jr., Ondarrius, DaNadia, Lebron, On’Dreh, Jae’Lynn, Isaiah; siblings, Emma (David) Pettway, Johnie Mae, Aaron, Sarah Ann, Dan (Rachael) Thomas, Ivory, Eldora, Dorothy J., John Jr. (Sandra), Curtis (Merletta) Johnson, Lula (Howard) Coleman, James Douglas, Lillie Rene; special niece and nephew, Tanyan and Walter Johnson; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Maddie Mae Johnson, Terrance Williams and family.
