On Sunday, September 6, 2015, Mr. Roy C. Tyson Jr., also known as "Pee Wee" went to be with the Lord. Age 65 years. Roy was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 20, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Louise Tyson Sr.
He was the oldest of four children and attended St. Joseph High School where he graduated in the Class of "1969." By age 12, Roy was singing professionally, subsequently discovered by R&B star Lloyd Price and ultimately signed onto the record label, Double-L Records. In the summer of 1963, his manager took him to 1650 Broadway, New York City where he recorded his first record, "Oh What a Night for Love," (and also "Not Too Young to Sing the Blues") which was released in the fall. While promoting his record, Roy had bookings in Boston, Washington D.C., Atlantic City, and also performed at, among other clubs, Wilt Chamberlain's "Small Paradise" in New York. Roy went on to record a second record, "I Want to be Your Boyfriend" (and also "The Girl I Love") and then left for San Francisco to perform with his West Coast group, "Little Roy Tyson and The Royal Teens." To this day, his songs are a regular on satellite radio, including XM's "Fifties On Five." After retiring show business, Roy's passion for music remained strong. As a member of Jacobs ladder Ministries Church and The Sons of Thunder, he loved to sing in the church.
He is survived by his son, Roy C. (Euleasia) Tyson III; grandchildren, Morgan A. Tyson and R.
