Mr. Roy Lee Carroll, Sr. received his crown and heavenly reward on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the blessed age of 85 years. He was born July 10, 1935 in Camden, Arkansas to Al and Mattie (Davis) Carroll.
Roy accepted Christ at an early age and attended Shady Grove Church. He moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1968 and began employment with General Motors Corporation Grey Iron Foundry until his retirement in 1993. Roy joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otis Washington and served as a member of the Senior Usher Board. It was at Messiah that he united in holy matrimony to his wife Virginia on April 22, 1989.
Roy enjoyed spending his free time watching his favorite shows, Judge Joe Brown, The Steve Harvey Show and Jerry Springer. He had a dry sense of humor with his friends and family and he loved traveling back to Camden often. He took this journey many times until he was unable physically to make that drive.
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was a man of integrity, faith and most importantly a man of God. His presence will truly be missed but his life lessons will continue to live on through us.
Roy was preceded in death by four children, Lonzie, Brenda, Maybel, Catherine Michelle; parents, Al and Mattie Carroll; brothers, Tollie (Ernestine) Lonnie, Lou Gene Carroll; sisters, Azlee Giles, Willie B. Carroll; grandsons, Antonio and Patrick Bass; son-in-law, Deon Daniels.
