Royston Luster Alexander

October 29, 1926 — October 27, 2010

The beloved husband, father, grandfather, godfather, brother and uncle, Royston Luster Alexander went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Royston was born on October 29, 1926 in Cotton Plant, Mississippi to Norman C. and Florence Alexander.
Royston relocated to Saginaw, Michigan with the love of his life where he worked for 36 years at the Saginaw Steering Gear and was a member of UAW Local 699. He was a World War II Veteran. Royston was truly a man of God in thought, act and deed. He was a dedicated member and worker of St. Luke CME Church where he served as the Chairman of the Steward Board, member of the Trustee Board, and Choir. Royston was also a firm believer in the power of people to make a difference in the lives of others through activism. He was a lifetime member of the NAACP and was recognized in 1997 as one of Saginaws 100 Distinguished African American Men.
Royston leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruby Lee Strong-Alexander; two children, Kathy (James) Bradford and Hubert L. Alexander Sr.; honorary daughter, Josephine Alexander; seven grandchildren, Hubert R. (Jen) Alexander, Adora N. (Dulle) Ladisic, Crystal R. Alexander, Hubert L. Alexander, Jr., Andrea R. Alexander, Breannah R. Alexander, Florence J. Alexander; six great-grandchildren; Cedrick Thomas, Jr., Kendrick Thomas, Jared Alexander, Christian Farmer, Camryn Ladisic, Micah Alexander; a godson, Frederick Alexander, Jr.; four sisters, Grace Braddock, Doris (Aultry) Knox, Katherine (Albert) Curtis, Mary (Charles) Dunn; one brother, Frederick (Grace) Alexander; aunt, Lula Jean Rutherford; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. A very special thanks goes out to Olean Bodiford for her love and support during my husbands Illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman C. and Florence Alexander and his brother, Paul Alexander.
