Mrs. Ruby Lee Wilson departed this earthly life and entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the age of 93 years.  A beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother, and friend, Ruby touched the lives of many with her love, kindness, service and willingness to help others.  She was adored by her family and friends, and unselfishly took care of her grandparents, parents and brothers.

She was the oldest child born to Tommy and Erma Robinson on October 16, 1928 in Shelby, Mississippi.  She moved to Saginaw at a young age and married James W. Wilson on April 15, 1945.  She was a mother to many, especially to her host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and to her goddaughter.

She joined the membership of Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.W. Bothuel, and served faithfully in several organizations including the Nurses, Kitchen and Mother’s ministries.  Ruby loved the children and looked forward to serving them cookies and punch after Sunday School.  She always called to check up on family and friends and to say “I love you.”

Ruby served as a chef at various restaurants in the Saginaw Bay area including the Saginaw Country Club, Johnny Ryan’s Restaurant and the Bay City Country Club.  She was also employed as a private nanny for many years.

Ruby lived a fulfilled and purposeful life. She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Elder Jay B. (Mammie) Robinson, Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Virginia Nelson, Fresno, California; goddaughter, Ida Speight; special niece, Tanya Kemp, who was her loving and faithful caregiver; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends Addie Ford, Pearl McGee and Hattie Dunn.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Wilson; son, James W. Wilson, Jr.; parents, Tommy and Erma Robinson; sisters, Bertha M. Spicer, Erma J. Robinson, Murdis Elkins; brothers, Joseph, Bennie and James L. Robinson; and a special cousin, Henry Brown.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Pastor Lafayette Simpson and the Bethlehem Baptist Church family, Covenant HealthCare Harrison,  and Hospice, for their excellent attention to her care, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
