Mrs. Ruby Lee Winston passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw. Age 73 years. She was born on April 15, 1951, in Thompson, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Joe and Rosa Sutton. 

She dedicated 25 years of her career to Saginaw County Hospital before her retirement.

Ruby had a passion for travel, enjoyed playing Bingo, and loved visiting casinos to try her luck at the slot machines. She was known as the top chef of the Sutton family, relishing the opportunity to cook for her loved ones and passing down her cherished recipes to her grandchildren. Ruby had a vibrant personality and a knack for storytelling; her friends and family often joked that she couldn't keep a secret.

As the first member of her family to move to Saginaw from Alabama, Ruby was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, always seeking to avoid confrontation and foster harmony within her family and community.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Vonametre (Robert) Foster of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tanisha Sutton of Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Nathaniel Sutton of Saginaw, Michigan; and a legacy of grandchildren: Deon (Tiara) Sutton, Ashley Warren, RaJon (Jasmine) Robinson, James Johnson, Jean Asia Sutton, Jarmaine (Sharay) Riley, Lamyra Williams, Trey Harper, Shakyra Sutton, Khloei Shermen, and Tan’Zania Heard, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two aunts, Mary Sutton, Atlanta, Georgia, and Rose Conver of Freehold, New Jersey.

She is also survived by her seven sisters: Carrie (Willie) Whitley, Jessie Avery, Rosa Sutton, Mary (Charles) Helton, Thelma Harrison of Saginaw, Michigan, Clara Blackman of Nashville, Tennessee, and Anna Sutton of Cleveland, Ohio, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sutton and Debra Sutton, of Saginaw, Michigan, and Patricia Sutton, Cleveland, Ohio. Ruby will also be missed by her co-workers at Healthsource Saginaw, and special friends, Barbara Hall and Marilyn Strickland. 

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Winston; parents, Joe and Rosa Sutton; grandmother, Carrie Davis; daughter, Tracy Winston; brothers, Joe Jr., Joseph, Robert, Aggie Lee, and James Sutton; sisters, Dorothy Harris and Betty Antwine; aunts, Anna, Clara and Lula B. Sutton, and Jessie Davis; uncles, Bennie, Aggie, and Jude Sutton.

Ruby Lee Winston's warmth, generosity, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
