Ruffus Thomas

November 22, 1922 — May 30, 2009

Mr. Ruffus Thomas Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, surrounded by his family. Age 86 years. Mr. Thomas was born to the late Robert and Alice Thomas on November 22, 1922, in Natchez, Miss. He married the former Marie Wells on February 10, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2002.
Mr. Thomas was a WWII United States Army veteran and a retiree of General Motors Malleable Iron and UAW Local 455. Mr. Thomas also worked for more than 50 years as a barber. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he enjoyed giving special nick-names.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Transforming Life Ministries Church of Saginaw. He leaves to cherish sweet memories six children: Cathrine Daniel, Alice Jackson, Joyce (Curtis) Reeves, Ruffus Thomas Jr., Wesley (Erma) Thomas, Pastor William (Laura) Brown, all of Saginaw; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Mark Thomas, Saginaw; one sister, Queen Esther Clark, Natchez, Miss.; a devoted sister-in-law, Anne P. Thomas of Flint; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends Steward (Karen) Dix, Malina Barlow, Marge Richardson and Gail Crittendon.
In addition, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda J. Thomas; two sons, Clyde and Willie A. Thomas; two brothers and two sisters.
