Runnell Hinds

Mrs. Runnell Hinds made her debut on July 25, 1944 in Blanton, Alabama, the daughter of Oliver and Mae Frances McCulloh. She completed her journey on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 76 years, surrounded by love from family and friends.

Runnell graduated from Inkster High School, “Class of 1962”. She married Johnny Hinds in 1971 and two started a family together. She was employed by the YMCA from 1978 to 1992, and then worked at the Millet Learning Center 1992 to 2001, from where she retired.

Runnell’s hobbies included gardening, bowling, cooking, baking and playing bingo. She also loved entertaining family and friends. She had a warm and welcoming spirit and everyone always wanted to be around her. Loving, caring, hard-working, supportive, strong-willed and kind is how she will be remembered.

She leaves beautiful and loving memories with seven children, Minnarow (Songonia) Stewart, Salicia Stewart, Asineth Stewart, Chrisshondra Hinds, Bridget (Sam) Hinds, Johnny Hinds Jr. and Reginald Riley; grandchildren, Minnarow II, Marnesha, Taquitta (Jerrell), Kindy (Brittney), Justin, Jalicia, Sharnell, Vonyell, Dennarrio, Lazaria, Lamareon, Antwan, Antonio, James, Cruz; thirty-six grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Anna Ruth Mitchell, Christine McCulloh; brothers, Horace, Perry, Sammy McCulloh; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Ophelia Jones and Robin Wells.

Runnell was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Hinds; son, Henry Hinds; parents, Oliver and Mae Frances McCulloh; brothers, Clarance, Robert Petter, John, James, Paul; two sisters, Hattie and Janice; one grandchild, Oliver Stewart.
