Ruth Taylor

July 10, 1916 — August 27, 2014

On Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Ruth Dalton Taylor gained her eternal wings and entered the kingdom of Heaven. She was born July 10, 1916 in Castalian Springs, Tennessee to Vallie A. Parker and Roscoe Taylor.
Ruth relocated to Saginaw, Michigan from Nashville, Tennessee in 1948. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for sixty-five years where she was a member of the Senior Choir for many years. Ruth retired from Sullivans Restaurant where she was a cook for several years. She loved to cook and feed everyone, especially the young people that came around her. Ruth loved good singing and could be seen standing in the church pew clapping her hands, rejoicing and praising God. If you were to have a conversation with her you were going to be called Sweet Baby. That was her loving name for females and males, it didnt matter. She had a big heart and would often say, I love everybody. Ruth had an extended family who loved her and called her mom or grandma. Hugging was one of her favorite things to do. She loved to give hugs and get hugs. Her favorite song was On time God by Dottie Peoples and her favorite color was red. Two of her greatest joys were her great-granddaughters, Hannah and Natalie. Her wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ruth leaves to cherish her precious memory one daughter, Shirley Norman; a son-in-law whom she loved as a son, Bobby Norman; grandchildren, Bobbi Lynn Norman of Atlanta, Georgia, Reverend Brent (Sharon) Norman of Bourbonnais of Kankakee, Illinois and Steven Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Natalie Norman, Tory Collins; one brother, Otis Taylor of Gallatin, Tennessee; two godchildren, Reverend Robert Jones and Andrea Mosley Cotton; several nieces and nephews; her adopted daughter Phyllis Lowe whom she lovingly called My Phil many other relatives and friends including special friends, Alma Wyatt, Reverend Bernard Harris, Penny Williams, Yvette Smith, Olivia Newsome, Nolan and Earlene Smithers, Wilbur and Beatrice Long, Mark and Linda Mosley, Clarence and Bernice Scott, Jimmie and Sharon Sanders.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Vallie Parker and Roscoe Taylor, two sisters, Martha and Mary Parker, four brothers, Frank and Charlie Parker, James and Robert Taylor, two great-grandsons, Michael and Brent Norman.
The family would like to express special thanks to her personal caregivers, Penny Williams and Patricia Jackson, the staff of Saginaw Senior Care and her Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church family.
