Salathel Jermain Coward, affectionately known as Lace or Sal, was born February 5th, 1976, in Lansing, Michigan to Durvin and Maxine Coward of Lansing, Michigan. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Landon Coward of Lansing, Michigan, his parents Durvin I and Maxine Coward of Lansing, Michigan, 2 brothers Ramon (Karen) Sharpe’ of Salt Lake City Utah and Durvin Co’Ward II of Atlanta, Georgia, and 2 sisters Uyeshitia (Sheilla) Ward, and Kiyuana Coward both of Lansing, Michigan, and a host of aunties, uncles, neieces, nephews, cousins and friends., He was proceed in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Bill and Georgia Clemmons and Paternal Grandmother Cecilia Stevens.
Lace was a man who embodied a beautiful balance between warmth and independence. His love for his family ran deep, always ready to drop everything to be there for them, no questions asked. His connection with his son was especially precious to him, and he looked forward to every moment spent together, knowing those memories would last a lifetime. While he cherished those moments with family and friends, Lace also understood the importance of solitude, where he could unwind and reflect on life. A man of intellect, Lace often challenged conventional thinking, transforming even the simplest topics into a thought-provoking debate. His presence at any gathering was often punctuated by his trademark fashionably late arrival, a reflection of his unique personality.
Known for his impeccable style, especially his extensive collection of designer shoes, Lace never failed to make a statement, whether he was at a gathering or simply passing through life. He found great enjoyment in the sporting games of chance. With his playful, yet thoughtful attitude, he would often question—“Who’s going to be there and what’s on the menu?”—this was his way of engaging with the world, always curious and keen to make the best of every situation. Lace's legacy is one of love, individuality, and an unyielding curiosity. He embraced life with a distinctive flair, leaving behind not just memories but a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His humor, intellect, and fashion sense will be deeply missed, but the impact of his kindness and generosity will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he left behind.
