Sam Carr

January 11, 1948 — August 4, 2015

Mr. Sam Carr, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the age of 67. Sam was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 11, 1948 to Annie Irene Sheppard and George Carr.
Sam moved from Shreveport, Louisiana to Saginaw, Michigan seeking work and new opportunity. He worked at Malleable Iron Plant and was a member of local U.A.W. #455. He married his beautiful wife Annie Pearl Green on his birthday, 25 years ago. He accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist church.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking wild game, and spending time at the casinos. If he promised you a cooler of fish or a dozen raccoons in one night, in the cold, January winter, he was always able to deliver. Sam was a very loving, responsible and righteous man. He was an avid contractor and mechanic by trade and always guaranteed his work. He also passed those trades down to his sons and even some of his sweet daughters. He used his skills to provide for his family while his wife attended college. He believed that education was the key to do anything and was very supportive of his wife completing her college education. His back was wack, but it didnt prevent him from doing what he had to do to provide for his family. Sams friends and family often sought him out for advice especially his wife. He gave advice even if it wasnt what you wanted to hear. Sam was very mindful and had very good common sense. He had a special love for good ministry and gospel songs. He enjoyed listening to Truevines church CDs as he would ride down M-20. Sam was definitely known to be a jack of all trades. As we put the love of our life to rest today, we only buried his body his memory will be missed, but will live on by all who knew and loved him.
Sam leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Annie Pearl; two sisters, Virginia (Robert) Gardner, Doris Harris; one brother, George Johnson all of Shreveport, Louisiana; seven daughters, Maryann Carr of Los Angeles, California, Gail (Rev. Alvin) Hendrix, Virginia (William) Marlow, Sandra (Ariz) Staton, Zetna Green, Narcissi (Ben) Haynes of Charlotte, North Carolina, and his baby girl, Sammeetra Irene Carr; four sons, Sammie Carr, George Carr, Staff Sergeant Kemoathe (Tara) Green of Killeen, Texas and Robert (Terry) Carr; 25 grandchildren, Charles and Sanii whom he helped raise, BJ, Bryce, Ariz Jr., Arizia, Crystal, William Jr., Elijah, Jasma, Robert Jr., Sam, Sparkle, Henry, Toya, Candice, George Jr., Jayla, Amber, Brandy, Joshua, Cassandra, Hayden, Jayla, and Kaleb; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Sandy) Bledson, Clara (Henry) Stephens of Danville, Illinois, Joyice Green, Janice (Demetris) Humes; one brother-in-law, Freddie Green of Ypsilanti, Michigan; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors who loved him dearly including special cousins, Dale Lee Drake and Georgia Ann Ragster of Shreveport, Louisiana and sister-in-law, Joyice Green and special friends including Reverend Leroy Virgies, Issac Swilley, Lester Harris, Ulysses Wright, Ozzie Jackson, Lee Harris, Meredith Davis, Dennis Bentley, Benjamin McElhaney, Palactina Carr, Pearl Marlow, Michelle Grimes Carr, Eleanor Jackson, Sherry Pought and Amy McElhaney.
