Sampson Odell Key

Sampson Odell Key passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center at the age of 85 years. He was born February 14, 1928 in Florence, Alabama to William and Mary Haley Key.
Sam was employed at Grey Iron Foundry for over 66 years and was a member of UAW Local 668. He also worked at Central Jr. High School for 23 years. Sam was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rodrick Smith. He was a kind and generous person who loved helping people. Sam had a great sense of humor. At a young age, he enjoyed playing blooper ball and bowling. Sam enjoyed watching his sports on TV, especially football and basketball. He loved spending time with his family. Sam was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Eddie (Annie Ruth) Key, James (Bernadette) Key, Janet Key and Lekoya Lane; seven grandchildren, Dawn Key, Eddie Key Jr., Jeana (Eddie) Thigpen Jr., Jamesha and Jennifer Key, Ayannah and Aniela Jackson; eleven great-grandchildren, Edeana Thigpen, Donte Key, Eddie Thigpen III, Demetria OBryan, Mahogany and Michael Lee, Jaelynn Irwin, Mekhi Lee, Myles, Shiann and Sheyne Key; a special cousin, Alex Farrell; many other relatives and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Key, four brothers, two sisters, one grandson James Bland Key, two wives, Annie Key and Carrie Miles Key.
