Sandra Dykins (Lansing)

Sandra Lee Dykins, affectionately known as Sandy Dykins, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the age of 74, in Lansing, Michigan. The daughter of Lula Mae (Brown) Dykins and Walter Charles Dykins, she was born Thursday, September 16, 1948, at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Sandy's vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, starting when she was just a young woman. She graduated in 1970 with a dual major from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. A proud government employee, she worked her way up in the Social Security Administration until she retired from her position as Area Director in 1990. Then she joined the family business to work for Elderly Instruments until 2018 as A/P and Employee Benefits manager.

Sandy and many of her friends had an affinity to Lansing's Fellowship for Today, a welcoming, accepting spiritual community for people who may not necessarily like "church" in the traditional sense, but want to share their spiritual journey.

She is survived by her beloved family: husband, Stanley Werbin; daughter, Lillian Michele Dykins Werbin; sister, Michele (Shelly) DeLoris Dykins; and niece, Jennifer Michele Springman.

In honor of Sandy's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on August 3, 2024. Please join us at Hannah Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm to celebrate her life and bid her a heartfelt farewell. All are welcome.

The family kindly requests that contributions be made to Amnesty International. Sandy was a strong advocate for human rights, and supporting this organization would be a fitting tribute to her compassionate nature. Flowers are also welcome, as she loved nature and all beautiful things.

Sandy Dykins will forever be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
