20 Dec 2011 Sandra Sandi Mathis a long time resident of Saginaw Michigan passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Born October 4th, 1942 in East Chicago Indiana to Richard and Ruth Minnetta Newman. Sandi lived, laughed, loved, married, divorced and left Indiana on a wing and a prayer in search of new life for herself and her children; making Saginaw Michigan her home.
Although Sandi worked for Saginaw Steering Gear for many years her true calling and creative spirit lead her to interior decorating. Sandis works of art have blessed furniture stores, Community Centers and many homes of friends and family members. She also managed an apartment building on Southfield drive where she feels God placed her to assist him by offering her special brand of love and support to many families. Sandi has always been a high energy person with a zest for life. She never met a stranger. Her brilliant smile and warm heart pulled people to her like a moth to flame. She was the life of the party, the funniest person in the room and the champion of every underdog making everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Sandi was a fighter! She was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. After six months and several surgeries she was told that she had less than a month to live; in which she replied, Ill be damned, I still got some things to do. For the next year and a half, through her personal pain, she still started each day with the same prayer, asking God to please give her the strength to help someone today. Sandi Mathis was handpicked by God to grace the earth with her spirit and each person that met her was indeed touched by an ANGEL
