Semearia Coward Blackmon began her journey in life on the 18th day of July in the year of 1927 in Union Springs, Alabama, the daughter of Wallace and Jessie Dell Coward. Semearia entered the kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
Semearia married Walter Blackmon at a young age. She relocated to Saginaw, Michigan after he began employment with General Motors. Semearia loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Corinthian Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roy Manning. She was a loving wife and mother to eleven children. Semearia dedicated her life to her family. She was well known for her famous hot tamales and she loved fishing. Gone but not forgotten, her presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Patricia (Earl) Davis, Mary A. Blackmon-Johnson, DeVelma M. (Prentis) Howard, Carol (Derek) Mason, Sylvia McCune, Walter (Diane) Blackmon Jr., James Felix Blackmon, Anthony (Teaneka) Blackmon, Tonya (Tony) Kimble; fifty-six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Farley of Birmingham, Alabama; one brother, Henry Coward of Cleveland, Ohio; two special godsons, Michael Hill Heman and Larry Williams; a very special friend, Edna Conner; many other relatives and friends.
Semearia was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Blackmon, one daughter, Annie Williams, two sons, Ray and Martin Chris Blackmon, ten sisters and three brothers.
The family of Semearia Blackmon wishes to acknowledge the many prayers, words of encouragement, floral tributes and other expressions of kindness and concern shown to us during our time of bereavement. God bless you all!
