Sharon Ann Montgomery "Shug"

September 28, 1954 — March 22, 2018

On March 22, 2018 at the age of 63 years, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, Sharon Ann Montgomery, better known as “Shug,” gained her heavenly wings. Shug was born September 28, 1954 to Betty and Richard Newton in Lexington, Mississippi.

During her childhood, Shug moved to Chicago, Illinois. She was so prissy, she didn’t know how to skate or ride a bike. She was a really good dancer. Sharon graduated from Marshall High School where she met the love of her life, Frank Conic. She continued her education beyond high school and received her certification to work with children. Shug worked with children over fifteen years, and when her job ended, she continued to work as a volunteer. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, playing bingo and slots on the computer, going to the casino and listening to the blues. Most of all, Shug enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For years, Sharon helped her only child, Tanyacherice, raise her children. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sharon leaves to treasure loving memories her husband, Henry Montgomery, Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Tanyacherice (Albert) Gainwell; step-daughter, Maxine Collins; grandchildren, Frank Newton, K.C. Lawrence (Jaszmine), Sharon Tinsley (Anthony), Betty Newton, Tanyacherice, Samuel, Martell and Bethany McMillon; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Jones; one niece, Betty Newton; one nephew, Richard Kincaid; many cousins; special cousins, John Baxter and Nikeal Hawkins; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, Tallahassee, Florida, and May Gunn, Kalamazoo, Michigan; many other relatives and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty Newton; son, Frank Conic, III; two sisters; grandparents; all of her aunts and uncles, and her brothers-in-law.
The family would like to express special thanks to Richard Walker, Jr., John Baxter, Kenneth Amos, Frank Conic, Cyrella Ball and Veronda Williams.
