Sharon (Lansing) Mccatrey

Sharon McCatrey, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend transitioned from this earthly home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 61 years. Sharon was born July 6, 1955 in Gary, Indiana to Ernest Pippins and Hattie Ballard.
Sharon attended Gary Public Schools, graduating from West Side High School. In 1984, Sharon relocated to Lansing, Michigan wanting to give her children a better chance at life. Three years later she met and soon after married the love of her life, Curtis McCatrey. Sharon loved the LORD with all her heart, and was a faithful member of Galilee Baptist Church. Her passion was reading her bible and praying for others. Sugamomma as she was affectionately known as, was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She deeply loved her family. Sharon was a peacemaker, counselor, shoulder to lean on, to know her was to love her. Her smile and beautiful spirit will definitely be missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Curtis McCatrey, six sons; Allen (Stephanie) Logan, Tony (Gloria) McCatrey, Marlen Eskew, Willie Eskew, Steve McCatrey, Curtis McCatrey, Jr.; one daughter, Sha-Londa (Martese) Logan; four sisters, Patricia (Thomas) Woods, Bernadette (Morris) Lewis, Rita Ford, Deborah Ballard; three brothers, Willie (Clotine) Ballard, Robert Ballard, Michael Ballard; special friends, Loretta Harden, Veretta Lomax, and Monica Adams; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Ernestine Walker, Edward Ballard, Gloria Tavorn, and close friends Shirley Hair, Patricia Johnson.
