Sharon Nevels (Lansing)

Sharon Ann Nevels was delivered from the Lord and into the hands of Helen Watts on Sunday, April 29, 1945, in Albion, Michigan. She returned home to the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 78 years old.

Sharon accepted Christ at an early age. She became a resident of Lansing, Michigan in 1962, and graduated from Lansing J. W. Sexton High School in 1963. After graduating high school, she worked as a Lab Technician at Kellogg College from 1971-1975. After meeting and marrying Jerry Nevels, she moved to Skokie, Illinois to work for the Kool-Aid plant. Sharon later moved to Chicago, Illinois, to work for General Motors Corporation. In 1983, She transferred to the General Motors plant in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Sharon retired in the late 1990’s; she relocated to Lansing, Michigan to be near her family. She loved playing cards and dancing. Sharon had a boisterous laugh and infectious smile, so she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her 2 siblings, Carol and Genise McCollum of Lansing, Michigan; uncle, Randy Gelispie; daughter, Loretta Leanord; two grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her beloved mother, Helen McCollum; husband, Jerry Nevels; sisters, Nancy K. McCollum and Kathy McCollum; brothers, Claude McCollum, Jr. and Ibrahim Abdus Samad, formally known as Maurice McCollum.
