Sharon Rene Smith

Sharon Rene’ Smith went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy fight with cancer on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Covenant Cooper Medical Center at the age of 58 years. She was born April 10, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Willie W. Sr. and Betty Smith.

Sharon was a member of Community Temple COGIC under the leadership of her father, Superintendent Willie Smith Sr. until God called him home. She later became a member of From the Heart Ministries, the church where it’s all about LOVE, in 2015, where the Pastor is her son, Elvin D. Owens III.

Sharon was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and getting in the car and just riding. She really loved shopping, especially online and often purchased items in her favorite color, red.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Pastor Elvin III (Tangela) Owens; daughter, Tracy (Curtis) Canty; seven grandchildren, Elvin Owens IV, Taryn Owens, Evan Owens, London Canty, Denver Canty, Dakota Canty and Sicily Canty; three sisters, Betty Perry, Linda Petty, Delana Smith; one brother, Pastor Willie Jr. (Joan) Smith; many other relatives and friends, including special friends Sherry Williams and Ann Reed.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Superintendent Willie Smith Sr. and Mother Betty J. Smith; brother, Billy Ray Smith; sister, Mae Helen Jones; special friends, Gloria King and Laura.
