Ms. Shavonne Chanel Barnes graced the world with her presence on July 24, 2001. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Latoya Louise Barnes and Corneil Jones. She returned home to heaven on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the young age of 18 years.
Shavonne, lovingly called “Von Von”, was a member of Kingdom Outreach Empowered Ministry. She was a student at Heavenrich Elementary, Central Middle School and a honors graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 2019.” During high school, Shavonne was a member of the Girls Varsity Basketball Team and she loved playing for her coach, “Big Job.” She also played with Born 2 Ball AAU Team with Coach Zet. Von played in the Gus Macker for seven years and won many trophies during that time. In addition to basketball, Shavonne loved dancing, taking pictures, styling hair and spending time with her cousins and best friends.
No stranger to hard work, Von was a Team Leader at Burger King and an employee at Fed Ex. She worked for what she wanted and she had a bright future ahead of her. In the midst of her busy schedule, she always found time to visit her “Grammy”, whom she adored. Our sweet, beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and friend was loving and ambitious. Her bright eyes and beautiful smile Eighteen years was not enough time but her memory will forever be in our hearts. We love you Von Von.
Shavonne was preceded in death by her great-grandmothers, Annie Barnes; uncles, Sterling Barnes, Gary Hunt, Jr., Tyrone Clark-Broxton, Veris Thompson; Jesse Clark, Juanita and Velma Barney and a number of Ezell relatives.
She leaves precious memories with her parents, Latoya Louise Barnes, Corneil (Margaret) Jones; stepfather, Willie Eugene Chandler, III; grandmother, Rachelle Marie Barnes; sisters, Desharion Strong, Naiya Monroe; brother, Travion Lee; special nieces, Miann Smith, Sharbera Box; aunts, Tracy, Pam, Lovie Barnes, Kimberly Clark, Roxie Davis, Catherine Troublefield, Keisha Bulger, Nicole Whitney, Victoria Bush, Dorothy Dodd; uncle, Russell Brown; cousins, Lanisha, Keisha, Tanisha Roberson, Omar, Sarah Barnes, Earnell, Jodie Clark, Kamisha West, Tanisha Clark, Sharda Kelly, Candice Barnes; best friend, Yajntavia Hoggs-Watley; many other cousins, relatives, and friends including special cousins, Granny, Skylar Barnes, Cynal Brown, KeTaevion, Ebony West, Lil Sterling, Coach Zet, Dre and the Lady Trojans.
