Shawnta McKnight

Ms. Shawnta McKnight passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Ascension Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan.  Age 47 years. She was born on June 28, 1977, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Veronica A. McKnight and Joseph McKnight Jr.

Shawnta, a sweet and caring person, was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan (Buena Vista Township). She attended Saginaw Public Schools including Saginaw High School. Shawnta had a passion for cooking and was considered the best. She loved taking care of the elderly and was a caregiver for many years. Shawnta had been employed as a security guard. She enjoyed music, spending time with family and friends, and cracking jokes. Shawnta had the prettiest smile and a laugh that will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved her.

Shawnta leaves loving memories with her only daughter, Veronica Ann Jackson; two sons, Ke'Andre Fritzgerald McKnight Sr, and Ke'Terrion Jaheim McKnight, all of Saginaw, Michigan; godsons, Delano Rhodes and Leonard Mushatt; grandchildren, Ke'Andre Jr, Ky'Aire and Kentrell McKnight, Kamilah Meeks, all of Saginaw, Michigan; her only brother, Joseph McKnight III; niece, Jenna McKnight; three nephews, Asher McKnight Youngblood, Jordan and Johaven McKnight; aunts, Evelyn Sutton, Gwendolyn (Clarence) Patterson, and Jo'Ella Berrien Green; uncles, Sherwin Mack, and James Lane Jr; cousins, Charlotte Hilliard, Delana Hilliard, Kenyata Berrien, Shantera Smith, Joseph Berrien, Demont Mack, Ebony Mack Kindle, Shamona Mack, Shakila Mack, Demiesha McKnight, Akeba Jackson, Monique Lawrence-Jackson, and Fredrick McKnight; Shawnta also leaves many other relatives and friends including her best friend, Bernadette Jones

Shawnta was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph McKnight Jr. and Veronica Ann McKnight; grandmothers, Rose Lee Lane and Ethel Lee Mack;  grandfather, Joseph McKnight Sr; cousins, Fenecia McKnight and James "Quincy" Mack; and aunt, Rosemary Donald.
