Shelby D. Taylor

August 25, 1965 — December 6, 2022

Mr. Shelby Douglas Taylor Jr. “Junior” passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 57 years. Shelby was born August 25, 1965, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Kathryn (Vernon) Williams and the late Shelby D. Taylor Sr.

Shelby lived in Omaha, Nebraska, for the majority of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of the Saints Church where he served in the Media Department. Shelby loved to cook for his family and friends. Due to his passion for cooking, Shelby owned and operated Shelby’s Kitchen & Catering, a “to-go” restaurant in Omaha. He served soul food with much love on every plate. When Shelby was not cooking, he did odd customer service jobs in the Omaha area. He was known for his great taste in style, always exuding a great fragrance, and always helping others. His sense of humor would carry, tuhuh! He loved his family; especially his children, and grandchildren. Junior will be missed by family, friends, and those whose lives he touched.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tina L. Taylor, Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Sarah Taylor; four sons, Brandon (Whitney) Taylor, Daniel (Kira) Taylor, Joshua (Breal) Taylor, and Jonathan Taylor; grandchildren, Gianni Wolf, Nehemiah Taylor, Las Vegas, Nevada, Kattaleia Taylor, Aminah Taylor, Jeremiah Carr III, and Kouri ‘Jae Taylor, all of Omaha, Nebraska; parents Vernon “Sonny,” and Kathryn Williams; four sisters, Rebecca Shedrick, Michelle Jackson, Juanita Taylor, and Elizabeth Taylor; four nieces, Syretta Johnson, Ray’Chelle Pearson, Tori Ana Jackson, Kyndal Taylor; nephews, Jaquavis and Denzel Johnson; many cousins; mother and father-in-law, Andrew and Barbara Veres; two sisters-in-law, Laurette Veres Flynn, and Tracy Schmitt; four brothers-in-law, Terry Shedrick, Torey Jackson, Thomas Flynn, and Andre Schmitt; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Pastor Gary and First Lady Ballard, Elder Clyde and Faye Comer, Doris McKizia, Damita Bowles, Ebony Hawkins, Minister and Sister Donna Lacy, and the AOS family.

Shelby was preceded in death by his father, Shelby D. Taylor Sr.; brother, Derrick “Fonz” Taylor; grandparents, Artie and Janie Simpkins, and JB and Elizabeth Carter; godparents, Dossie and Eula Lee Moore.
