Ms. Shirley Ann (Kenny) Cheeks was born on August 30, 1954, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Earl and Annie Kenny.
Shirley graduated from Lansing J. W. Sexton High School. Shirley’s first job was at Kings Clothing store in downtown Lansing for a short period of time. Shirley worked at Sparrow Hospital in housekeeping and then transferred to her dream position within Central Supply for 5 years. She often volunteered at Volunteers of America. Shirley retired as an Inspector for General Motors with 30 years of loyal service of excellence. She enjoyed her life in the factory and gained many lifetime friendships.
She had a loving, nurturing spirit and cared for everyone who crossed her path. Shirley was such a giving person. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, music, needlepoint, crossword puzzles, cooking, planting flowers and watching movies. Most of all Shirley loved family gatherings and spending time with her mother and sister Darlene. Her whole family was very important to her, and it was evident in everything she did for them.
