Shirley Robinson

October 17, 1959 — February 16, 2019

Mrs. Shirley (Berry) Robinson was born October 17, 1959 in Tuchula, Mississippi, the daughter of Henrine Harris and Johnnie Common. She returned home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at age 59 years.

Shirley was the second of five children. She was in Mississippi for a few short years before moving to Chicago and then eventually to Saginaw, where she attended St. Joseph High School. She worked a number of jobs throughout her life and made lifetime friendships.

Shirley knew God and loved God. She was a faithful member of Church on the Rock Church of God in Christ for many years, and later joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Larry Camel.

Shirley married the love of her life, Matthew Robinson, on November 11, 2006. The two of them were inseparable. She spent most of her time with her husband and family and friends. She loved playing cards and bingo and she liked to win. Despite her competitive spirit, Shirley was sweet as pie and had a tender heart of gold. Her smile would brighten up the room and brightened our lives. She will be greatly missed.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Common; mother and stepfather, Henrine and Harry Harris; daughter, Barbara Ann Berry; sister, Deloris Common; niece, Britney Childress; daughter-in-law, Tanisha Berry.
