Shmonta Lamont Torrence was born November 12, 1999 to Sycorya Torrence and Willie Hall in Flint, Michigan. On Sunday, May 30, 2021, God requested the presence of Shmonta by his side at the young age of 21 years.
Shmonta’s education began in Jackson, Michigan. He then went on to attend Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 2018.
Shmonta loved spending time with his family and friends. His joy in life was his baby girl, Kyaa and niece, Sariyah, whom he loved and cherished unconditionally. Him and his sister were like peanut butter and jelly; one didn’t work without the other and their mother was the bread. He loved the game of basketball and enjoyed gaming, which he could do for hours, never letting his little brother Zach win in NBA2K. You could always tell where Shmonta had been because he always left a trail of candy papers.
Shmonta was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hall; grandfather, Willie Hart, Sr. and great-grandfather, Robert Hall, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his fun-loving spirit one beautiful daughter, Kyaa Petterson; mother, Sycorya Torrence; sister, Shmarira Torrence (Tony Steward); grandmothers, Sandra Dawolo and Cynthia Hall; great-grandmother, Mary (Charlie) Roman; niece, Sariyah Belvin; bonus family, Dorothy Ashley, Kevin Jones and Zachariah Ashley; girlfriend, LaTavia Ransom and her two children, Kindrese and Kendall Ransom; many other special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including Adrienne Williams who helped Shmonta along the way, and special friends Anthony Allen, Kelvis Sears, teacher Denise Baldwin, Keashia Bibbs, and his Flint and Jackson, Michigan families.
