Skowalski Delano Hughes I "Ski"

Mr. Skowalski Delano Hughes I passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 56 years. Skowalski, also known as “Ski,” was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on July 17, 1966, the second child of Willie Sr. and Dottie Hughes.

Skowalski was educated in Tuscaloosa County School System. He graduated from Central High School where he was a member of the Central High School Band drumline. Ski was a passionate fan of Alabama Crimson Tide. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and received an Honorable Discharge after serving two years. In his later life, Ski chose Saginaw, Michigan as his home.

Ski met the love of his life in April 1988. Later they were reunited and married in April 2006 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Ski received an Associate in Chemical Processing degree from Delta College. He was employed at Dow Chemical where he was loved by many. Ski attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 16 years. He loved working in his yard, and taking his family on new adventures. He found joy in seeing his family smile.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carrie Hughes, Saginaw, Michigan; three daughters, Kenyanna Dyer, and Alberta Hughes, Saginaw, Michigan, and Kierra Woodward, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; three sons, Javohn Booker Dyer, and Skowalski Hughes II, both of Saginaw, Michigan, and Tevin Nobles, Atlanta, Georgia; five granddaughters; one grandson; his loving mother, Dottie Hughes; one sister, Keisha Eberendu (Michael) Coats; two brothers, Willie (Lisa) Hughes, Jr., and Brian Hughes; many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly; mother-in-law, Alberta W. Dyer, Eudora, Arkansas; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Brown, Sylvia Holden Westley, and Patricia (Clyde) Gill; three brothers-in-law, Eddie Dyer, Billy (Sylvia) Dyer, Albert (Sondra) Dyer; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Skowalski was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hughes Sr.
