Solomon Griffin (Lansing)

May 8, 1947 — January 29, 2021

Mr. Solomon Griffin was called home by the Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 73 years. He was born May 8, 1947, in Fairfield, Alabama; the second of six children born to J. R. and Zelia Griffin.

Solomon accepted Christ at an early age. He enlisted in the United States Army as a teenager and was stationed in Seattle, Washington. While there, Solomon met and married the love of his life, Arlene Starks. They have journeyed through life together for 53 years and raised their three children, Solomon, Jr., Angela, and Steven.

Solomon worked for General Motors, retiring from there after 35 years of services. He enjoyed toying around with old cars, restoring, fixing them up, and showing them off. Another one of his past times was working in his yard, which he keeps picture perfect. Solomon never met a stranger. He was a very friendly and loving person. He was a great handyman who helped his neighbors, friends, and family by doing odd jobs.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, faithful and devoted wife, Arlene Griffin, who took EXCELLENT care of him until his departure to Heaven, daughter, Angela (Wes) Griffin Williams; 2 sons, Solomon Griffin, Jr., and Steven Griffin; nine grandchildren, Cheya Arlene Griffin, Nicholas Griffin, Izayah Anthony Griffin, Nyla Love Griffin, Layla Griffin, Devin Williams, Daniel Williams, Dallas Williams and Deja Williams; three sisters, Shirley (James) Parker, Virginia Powell, both of Lansing, Michigan and Anita Brown of Bessemer, Alabama; brother, James (Mary) Griffin of Lansing, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Carlene Williams and Fannie (Tony) Andry all of Detroit, Michigan, and Patricia Watts of Brooklyn, New York; brothers-in-law, William Henry Starks of Queens, New York, Albert Starks and Harold (Barbara) Starks all of Bessemer, Alabama; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. R. and Zelia Griffin, and his youngest brother, Larry Earl Griffin.
