Stanley Roper (Lansing)

Mr. Stanley Roper was born March 16, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan. He was the fourth of nine children born to Ernest P. and Odessa Roper. Stanley was called home from labor to reward on Sunday, March 8, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan, age 70 years.

Stanley was a native of Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Sexton High School, as well as Lansing Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Counseling. He worked as a Foreman at Shappell Corporation in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Stanley loved his family and friends very much! He was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed riding his bike, lifting weights, and watching basketball and football. Michigan State University was his favorite sports team.

Stanley will always be remembered as a loving father, son, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He spread good seeds of wisdom, responsibility, integrity, morality and education. He valued his many friendships that he cultivated and forged along the way. In many ways, he touched, inspired and helped the lives of countless people.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, daughters, Shamarah Roper, Ashley Roper and Shante Roper; sons, Stanley Roper and Shoun Roper; eleven grandsons, eight granddaughters; sisters, Jeanette Roper and Habeba Adal Raheem; brother, Eesa Abdul-Hakim; special family members including cousins, Claudine Ward and Hershel Roper and brother-in-law, Doug Lake; aunts, Virginia Terry and Florine Roper; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest P. and Odessa Roper; sisters, Diane Roper and Sharon Kay Roper (Lake); brothers, Herman Roper, Jackie Roper and Shireef Adullah Hassan.
