Suzzette Jamerson-Barnes

February 26, 1958 — December 21, 2020

Suzzette Jamerson-Barnes, 62 of Okemos, Michigan was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 26, 1958. She was a devoted wife to Gerry Barnes, daughter of the late George and Mary Pearl Jamerson. Suzzette went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 21, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Suzzette achieved 31 years of sobriety recovery. She retired from Family Dollar after 18 years in 2020 and had also served in the United States Army. Suzzette was an avid stepper and ballroom dancer and loved to teach others and traveled around the world to dance. She graduated from Saginaw High School “Class of 1976,” and was also a licensed nail technician. Suzzette was a lifetime member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Saginaw Michigan.

Suzzette was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary Pearl and George Jamerson; step-dad, Papa John; brother, Charles, sister, Charlotte; uncles, Tommy and Samuel Hall Jr., aunts, Sharron Hall, Ovella Bond; grandparents, Samuel and Marie Hall Sr., brothers-in-law, Horace Thomas Jr., Harold McFadden, Dennis Mason and Clarence Malone.

Her memory will be cherished by her dedicated husband of 11 years, Gerry Barnes; sisters, Yevette McNeal and Georgette (Juicy) Mc Fadden, both of Saginaw, MI, Germeny Thomas, (Brenda Hilfiger) Holland, MI, Jovanne (Toni) Mason, Novi, MI; nieces & nephews, Tarus McNeal, Giovanni (Jammall) Jackson, Clifford, Cortland and Drake Mason, Merridia and Andrew Walker; great-great nieces, La’Mia and Da’Mia; aunts, Josephine Fisher-Hall, Washington, DC, Katherine Hall and Delia “Tee” Nichols, Saginaw, MI, Ozie L. Smith, Blytheville, AK; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores (Myron) Freemen, East Lansing, MI., Carolyn Richardson, Lansing, MI., Nan Malone, Blytheville, AK., Phillis (Elbert) Staten, Indianapolis, IN.; special friends, Jackie Sangster, Yvette Coleman, Marilyn Brown, Patricia Williams; godchildren, Sirocca Layton and Quintavious Burnell; the S.O.F.T. group and Unity Service Recovery; Suzzette Loved her friends and family, the Hall’s, Bond’s and Barnes; special friends and relatives from Okemos, Lansing, Saginaw, Ohio, Detroit, Arkansas, Minnesota and numerous relatives and friends all over the world.
