Tanieka Cannon (Lansing)

Tanieka Shauntae Cannon went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2022, at Sparrow Health Systems Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 50 years. She was born October 29, 1971, in Lansing, Michigan to a loving mother Eddie Mae Allen and her father, Robert Lee Allen, both of Winona, Mississippi.

Through her beautiful smile, sincere eyes, an amazing kind heart, and very outgoing. Her compassion for others led her into a career in home healthcare, which she enjoyed very much. Tanieka also loved entertaining and was always the life of the party. She immensely enjoyed having fun with her family and close friends. Once Tanieka stepped into a room, the entire room lit up from her smile and contagious energy.

Over the last two years Tanieka enjoyed spending time with her fiancé Tony, traveling, sightseeing, and taking in as many happy and beautiful experiences as she could. She loved cooking and listening to her music, especially Gospel music on Sundays so she could tap into her spiritual roots.

Even as a young child growing up Tanieka was always cheerful and kept a positive outlook on life. She truly loved her children, grandchildren, and family! Everyone will truly miss all of her words of encouragement in good and tough times. One of Tanieka’s favorite phrases is “Pray about it!” Our beloved Tanieka will be tremendously missed.

Tanieka leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sinise Summerville, Brianna Cannon, B.J. Cannon, and Zana (Kenyon) Miller; grandchildren, De’Zia Livingston, Jeremi Miller, Brielle Cannon, Kingston Cannon, Braylin Crockette, Luna Miller, and Noah Mason; sisters, Alethea (Sammie) Lofton, and Lamiah (Harold) Strong; God-brother, Eric Allen; God-sister, Sherrandra Famiel; God-niece, Tanasia O’Daniels; God-auntie, Lois Faniel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tanieka was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Allen; grandmothers, Ruby Lee Purnell, and Mary Ann Ware; grandfathers, Eugene Allen, and Erue Lee Purnell; cousin, Karen Allen; and special friend, Letizia Ballard.
