Tawoyn Curry (Lansing)

Tawoyn Cinque-Duvall Curry was born November 13, 1977, in Lansing, Michigan. The son of Anthony Curry, Sr. and Essie Marie Horton.

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, The Most High called him home to claim his glory. Tawoyn, also affectionately and well known as “Ty”, was a lifelong resident of Lansing. He graduated from Everett High School in June 1997, Ty was very spiritual and despite what life threw at him he always maintained high spirits and a positive attitude. Ty was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He always placed family first, especially his sister, Felicia, and there were no limits to his protection of them. Ty will most be remembered for his joking ways, big, warm heartedness, loyalty, honor, commitment, and dedication to family and friends. Ty’s infectious laugh, smile, energy, and effervescent personality will truly be missed. To know Ty is to forever love him.

Ty leaves to cherish his memory parents, Anthony Curry & Essie Horton; sisters, Felicia A. Curry and Tamie (John) Thomas, both of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Anthony Curry, Jr. of Orlando, Florida; 6 nieces; 4 nephews; 12 aunts, Maxine Johnson, Patricia McCray, Nancy Nelson, Sheila Jenkins, Geraldine Rush, Deloris Curry, Judy McCray, Patricia Horton, Hazel McCray, Lisa McCray, Mary Johnson, and Michelle Beard; 2 uncles, Don and William III; many cousins; and special aunt and uncle, Patricia & John Horton.

Ty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold & Velma Johnson, Bishop C. Curry, and William & Lois McCray; 4 uncles, Ivan Horton, John Horton, Curlee Foster, and Brian McCray; 2 aunts, Verna Wearly and Stella McCray; and special cousin, Latoya Burgs.
