Telly "Pee Wee" Brookins

On August 3, 2019, our beloved Mr. Telly Pernell Brookins went home to be with his Heavenly Father, where he was met with open arms by his parents, Joann Brookins and Levi Essex.

Telly was born January 3, 1975 in Saginaw, Michigan to Joann Brookins and Levi Essex. He attended Saginaw Public Schools. He was affectionately known as “Pee Wee” and will always be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and generous heart. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family meant everything to Telly and he made sure that we all knew and felt his love.

Telly had a passion for cooking. He also loved spending time with his children and had a captivating smile that could light up any room. If you were in his presence, you knew a good time was to be had.

Telly leaves to carry on his legacy his loving daughter, Jada Brookins; eight sons, Cesar Trevino, Telly Brookins Jr., Telliono Brookins, Denzel Brookins, Dominique Pobalis, Xavier Brookins, DeAngelo Hooper, Syilas Smith-Brookins; grandchildren, Myzellion Galvin, Angelina Flores, Kartel Brookins; five sisters, Carolyn Brookins, Ramona (Randy) Brookins, Patricia Joe, Yolanda (Rickey) Wiley, India Slaughter; eleven brothers, Curtis Brookins Jr., Arnold (Tiffany) Brookins, Fredrick (Maria) Essex, Charles (Cynthia) Essex, Michael Essex, Anthony (Arnesha) Essex, Donnell (Catherine) Essex, Charlie Logan, Teon (Jeanette) Brookins, Brian Brookins, Joseph Hargrove; aunts, Wanda and Pamela Guiden, Sandra Powell, Eva Mae Culvert; uncles, Willie James Blount, Anthony Guiden; special aunt, Ada Childress; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special cousins who were raised as siblings, Anthony Childress, Julia (Jacob) Johnson, Tyjvanna Payne and Charles Primer.

Telly was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela “Toyee” Flores; father, Levi Essex; mother, Joann Brookins; brother-in-law, Andrew Joe; aunts, Ruth Bonner, Denise Powell; uncles, Barnett Powell and Wilburt Essex; nephew, Xzadrian Hardwick .
