Theresa L. Parker (Lansing-Jackson)

May 19, 1938 — November 26, 2023

Evangelist Theresa L. Parker was born in Villa Ridge, Illinois on Thursday, May 19, 1938, to Non and Aileen Walker the fourth of nine children. She went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 26, 2023, with her sons by her side at the age of 85 years old.

She was a former employee of Mercy Hospital and worked at the Commonwealth Engineering Firm in Human Resources. She married Eugene O. Parker on July 27, 1957, and from this union came 3 sons, Eugene “Geno”, Mark and Barron. They were married for 59 years. Evangelist Parker loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and was so proud of all their accomplishments.

She accepted the Lord at a young age under the leadership of her father, the late Pastor Non Walker. She and the late Pastor Eugene Parker served many faithful years at Faith Temple under her father. Some years later the Lord led them to Pentecostal Outreach to assist in ministry with Pastor Larry M. Trice, Sr. and in 1984 she followed her husband to Pastor their church, First Born Church of God in Christ which eventually became Canaan Land Temple. In their later years Pastor and Evangelist Parker returned to Faith Temple church under Apostle John Walker where they continued in service to the Lord. After Pastor Eugene Parker went home to be with the Lord, Evangelist Parker eventually moved to Lansing and attended Tabernacle of David church until she was called to her heavenly resting place.

As a faithful member in the Church of God in Christ, she loved being in the Junior Missionaries, and she was instrumental in starting a soup kitchen in Jackson. She loved taking youth to the Medicare facility weekly to sing and read to the elderly. She traveled the State preaching the Word of God while running revivals. She flowed in the prophetic and was a great intercessor.

She loved to praise and worship the Lord. She was a Sunday school teacher and Youth Leader. She was known as the person to call to interpret dreams. Evangelist Parker led Wednesday and Friday night weekly prayer at Canaan Land Temple where many souls were saved, delivered, and set free, especially during Friday night prayers. Her home was always open for women for prayer, counseling and girl talk.

She was a giver and a caregiver and was known for her delicious cooking which she shared with everyone she could. She loved winning souls, seeking and obeying the Lord and was an intercessor and a prophetic voice for her generation.
