Theresa Pete Lauderdale (Lansing)

Ms. Theresa Ann (Pete) Lauderdale went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 60 years. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on July 2, 1960, to Dudley Pete, Sr., and Naddie (Coward) Pete.

She moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1975. She attended J.W. Sexton High School. She was a devoted Christian, at an early age she joined True Light Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. Theresa left Lansing and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she graduated from Harrison High School in 1977. She later graduated from El Paso Community College in 1979.

Upon her return to Lansing, Michigan she was employed at General Motors, also the District Attorney Office, and recently retired from Emergent Solutions in 2017. Theresa went on to further her education where she attended Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan where she successfully graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and received her bachelor’s degree of Applied Science in 2013.

Theresa was extremely loving and friendly. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She had a spreadable smile and laugh that would light up any room! She spent time reading, decorating, cooking for the holidays for family with her mother, shopping, traveling. Theresa loved boating, gardening, and family picnics. She had such a loving heart and cared for all. She will be truly missed by all.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her sons, Tryston and JaWaun Lauderdale; stepsons, Turner Ashe and Shaun Clayton. Theresa adored her 8 grandchildren. Also, left to cherish is her siblings, Glenda (Blonnie) Dent of Beaumont, Texas, Delores Brown of Katy, Texas, Dudley Pete, Jr. (Sandra) of Lansing, Michigan, Neddie Pitre of Lansing, Michigan, and Timothy Pete (Teri’) of Lansing, Michigan; godmother, Shirley Ann Pete of Houston, Texas; goddaughter, Tiana Pete and godson, Michael Pete, Jr. She had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews (that lovingly called her Aunt ReAnn), cousins, other relatives, and her special friends, Gladys Woodard, Sharon Morris, and Temekia Gibb.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dudley Pete, Sr, and Naddie (Coward) Pete; and brother-in-law, Larry Brown.
