Thomas Daniel (Lansing)

Mr. Thomas Daniel passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 93 years. He was born on June 14, 1929, in Wedowee, Alabama to his parents, John Wilbur Daniel and Mittie Idella Daniel. Thomas is the last living member of his parents and siblings.

Thomas was a resident of Lansing, Michigan; where he and his wife, Othressa raised their two daughters. He was employed with Fisher Body, General Motors Corporation and retired from there. Thomas was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed refurbishing homes, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and dominoes. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He found so much love and enjoyment in spending time with his family, whether they were at his home or on a family trip. Family was everything to him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Othressa Daniel; two daughters, Bessie Daniel and Kathleen (Joseph) Maddrey of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three grandchildren, Tyree (Heather) Daniel, Lester Wheeler, Jr., and Stella Wheeler; 9 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, and Ean Daniel, Makaela, Kaiden, Braelyn, Chanel, Ezekiel and Aziel Wheeler; three godchildren, Saundra (Anthony) Fryer, Miles (Debra) Fitzpatrick, and Kenny (Cylinda) Hackman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mittie Daniel; five sisters, Josephine, Zelma, Sophie, Rachel, and Lillie Mae; six brothers, Ed, Joe, James, John, Matthew, and Frank; parents-in-law, Loubert and Bessie Booker; and two brothers-in-law, James Gill and Rudolph Gill.
