Tom Manuel (Lansing)

March 19, 1953 — December 25, 2021

Mr. Tom Allen Manuel received his wings on December 25, 2021, at the age of 68. He was born on March 19,1953, to the late Daisy Lee Manuel and L.M. Hosey, in Morgan City, Mississippi. His mother moved the family to Lansing, Michigan, in August of 1956, when he was 3 years old. Tom was the youngest of 11 children.

Tom attended Lansing School District, at West Junior and J.W. Sexton High School, Big Reds. He was an outstanding athlete in sports, wrestling, football, and track. Tom also had a passion for ping pong and loved combat sports such as boxing, and mixed martial arts. He also liked to play the guitar and he tried to form a band while in high school.

He was employed at the Lansing Fisher Body General Motors plant. He also served with the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. After serving, he received an honorable discharge.

Tom married the late, Elaine Brown on May 10, 1975. This union of holy matrimony produced two sons, Carlos and Tom, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory sons, Carlos (Jennifer) Manuel and Tom A. Manuel, Jr.; grandchildren, Tommie M. Manuel, Maxwell G. Carr, D’Carlo C. Manuel, A’Lari Q. Manuel, A’Chonye’ N. Manuel; sisters, Daisy Pate, Deloris Jame, and Mildren Nettles; brothers, Jasper Manuel and Jame Manuel, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Manuel; parents, Daisy Manuel and L.M. Hosey; sisters, Lucille Williams, Ruthie Flowers, and Ora Calhoun; and brother, Ervin Hall.
