On Friday, June 5, 2015 the angels of Heaven descended upon the earth to carry Mrs. Tommie Jean Joyner home to Glory. Age 57 years. She was born May 25, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee to Alice Brown Cathey and Tommy Lee Cathey.
Tommie accepted Christ at an early age while attending Peter Rock Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Bay City, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Hester. On June 4, 1976 she joined Mr. Clarence Joyner Sr. in holy matrimony. Tommie loved to cook and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh. Tommie had a gift of giving friends and loved ones good advice about the fact of life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Clarence Joyner Sr.; two sons, Clarence Joyner Jr. and Elton Joyner both of Bay City, Michigan; three daughters, Tracie V. Joyner and Kathey Joyner Harris both Bay City, Michigan; stepdaughter, Tammie T. Joyner of Memphis, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie James Brown of Seattle, Washington and Tommy Lee Cathey Jr.; one sister, Janet Faye Cathey of Memphis, Tennessee; many other relatives and friends.
Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Tommy Lee Cathey Sr., one son, Marcus A. Joyner, two sisters, Shirley Ann Brown and Patricia Capel, two brothers, Hura and Murray Brown.
The family wishes to express special thanks to everyone who offered heartfelt condolences, prayers and support.
